For Stuart (Triumph and Lament) ~ Bill Nelson

Bill Nelson wrote this song as a tribute to the late Stuart Adamson, who led the UK band, Big Country.

Bill records his music in a cluttered bedroom of his home, and generally plays all of the instruments himself. As you can hear for yourself, he is an utterly incredible guitarist.

Decline And Fall

Decline And Fall ~ Bill Nelson

Throughout the history of music, there have been musicians (like St. Vincent) that the great unwashed masses just ‘don’t get.’ Bill Nelson was, and still is, one of those particular musicians. He was the progenitor of New Wave music, only he did it in the 1970s. By the time that the 1980s rolled around and New Wave had finally caught on, Bill had progressed on to other genres.

I am sure that Annie Clark would appreciate Bill Nelson’s wild, atypical guitar solo at the 3:25 mark.
